Netterweise ging dieser Post über die Mailingliste etwa drei Stunden nachdem ich meinen Vulva-Bildfilter-Fork-Talk auf Wikimania hatte. Ist natürlich reiner Zufall, freute mich aber trotzdem. Der Bildfilter ist jetzt auf offiziell tot. Und das trotz des Widerstands von Jimbo "Meinungsfreiheit" Wales.

I am happy to announce that the Board of Trustees has now *unanimously* approved this resolution [1] rescinding our previous direction to the Executive Director to develop a personal image hiding feature.

At our in-person board meeting of 11 July 2012, the vote on this was provisionally recorded at 9-1, with Jimmy voting against. Jimmy has since changed his vote to a yes, on reviewing an FAQ accompanying this resolution which notes that the board is willing to approve a plan broadly backed by the community.

Thus the vote on this has now been changed to 10-0.

How do German women feel about the [wikip/media] image filter?

Es ist schon überraschend. Da habe ich vor Monaten mal die Wikimedia-Gender-Gap-Mailingliste abonniert, weil mich der Gender Gap interessierte, und plötzlich wird sie ein wichtiges Informationsmedium zum Bildfilter.

Heute wird sie dann allerdings zum eher zum Kommunikationsmediu. Sarah Stierch fragt:

may have seen today's post about how the majority of German editors to
Wikipedia protest the image filter. Foundation-L is heavily male dominated
(like many lists)...having an especially large number of highly opinionated
individuals from around the world (probably one of the largest and most
opinionated vocal groups in our culture - and this includes folks like
myself ;)

I was curious if any women from German Wikipedia would feel comfortable
perhaps sharing their thoughts on the image referendum. I bring it up here
on Gender Gap since this has served as a "safe place" for people to share
their honest points of view. I trust everyone here to remain civil and
respectful, as we have thus far :) (The convo has gotten a little insane on
Foundation-L!)

Oder um mein Zusammenstreichen von Sarahs Post zusammenzufassen: Auf der Foundation-Mailingliste gab/gibt es heute großes Bohei wegen des deutschen Meinungsbildes. Da Foundation-L nun nicht unbedingt total repräsentativ und sehr streitkulturell ist, hofft sie auf diesem Weg auf eine weniger konfrontative Diskussion. Und da hier ja ein paar German Women mitlesen, mögen die sich auch von mir ermuntern fühlen, was zu sagen.

Und, um meine Einschätzung loszuwerden, ich halte das tatsächlich für eine halbwechs sinnvolle Stelle, eine differenzierte Meinung loszuwerden.
